Attention all big wave watermen and waterwoman who are keen to up-skill in heavy water.
The event is run by Shark Eyes waterman Shanan Worrall
The course is designed to bring together WA’s big wave surfing community, teaching them safe practice in heavy water, and be squared away with a PWC setup and rescue skills.
We aim to encourage a culture of looking out for your mates and being equiped to deal with a situation when everything goes wrong.
This includes, but not limited to:
Introduction to apnea (breath hold) specific to heavy water conditions and the associated training principals
Basic first aid, trauma and deadly bleeds, delivered by Dr. Dennis Millard from the Surfing Doctors
PWC set up for heavy water use
Heavy Water essential equipment
Rescue techniques for both paddle and PWC
Course Duration:
2 days (0730 - 1630)
Pre Requisits:
Must be physically fit, medically fit, minimum age is 16.
A valid recreational skippers ticket (WA) to be presented on the day of the program
Minimum of 20 hours of PWC use
