FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does the Shark Eyes swimming vest deter sharks?

The vest uses Shark Eyes' visual deterrent technology, a design based on biomimicry. The idea is that a shark that thinks it has been seen becomes more cautious and is less likely to investigate. It is designed to help mitigate against shark attacks, but no deterrent can guarantee a shark will not approach.

Can I wear the vest over a wetsuit?

Yes. It can be worn directly against the skin or layered over a wetsuit or thermal rash vest, so it works across seasons and water temperatures.

Will it slow me down in the water?

It is cut close to the body with a streamlined, low-drag design specifically so it does not compromise swimming performance, and the stretch fabric moves with you rather than restricting your stroke.

Who is the swimming vest designed for?

Ocean and open water swimmers, snorkellers, divers, surf life savers, nippers and triathletes. Anyone who wants an added visual deterrent without the bulk of a full wetsuit. It is a unisex design available in sizes XS to 4XL.

Where is the Shark Eyes swimming vest made?

It is made in Western Australia, designed and manufactured locally by Shark Eyes.

“As an ex-abalone diver, we used to glue fake eyes on our wetsuits before diving. It was simple – if a shark thinks you’ve seen it, it becomes more cautious.

Shark Eyes deterrents are that idea, refined. Backed by decades in the water and real-world use in high-risk zones, these deterrents are built on anecdotal evidence and experience. I’ve trusted this concept with my life – now anyone can. PS Watch this space with research findings to come"
