Andrew Semark

Andrew Semark was born and raised in the South West of Western Australia, and his work has been shaped by the coastline he grew up on. He shoots landscape, travel and ocean art photography, and the beaches and cliffs of the region run through most of it.

He has travelled to shoot elsewhere, but the South West remains the centre of the work.

His best known project is Facing Monsters, the feature documentary following West Australian slab surfer Kerby Brown and his pursuit of a wave in the Southern Ocean that nobody had ridden. Andrew shot on location for the film. He later published a 140 page hardcover book of the same name, combining that location work with unseen images from a decade of surf trips with Brown, alongside contributions from collaborators on the film. Ten per cent of the profits from the book go to Lifeline.

He works and lives in the South West with his wife and two children.
