Jake Ghiretti

Jake Ghiretti sails out of Gnarabup, on the Margaret River coast. He came to it honestly. His mother, Jane Seman, is wave sailing royalty in Western Australia, once ranked third in the world and a repeat winner of the women’s division at Lancelin. Jake took the Junior Wave Sailing title at twelve.

In January 2025 he won the U21 Pro Junior Men at the Jaffle Shack Oceania Youth Wave Titles at Sunset Beach in Geraldton, the opening youth event on the World Windsurfing Wave Tour calendar. He landed three aerials and a stalled forward loop early in the final, then spent the rest of the heat going bigger for the crowd.

He has since taken second in the Pro fleet at the Margaret River four star event, at his home break, on a building swell and cross offshore winds. He went into it two weeks off the water with concussion, having failed a balance test at the doctor.

His approach in the bigger heats is straightforward. He has said you will not beat the top sailors by playing it safe, so he looks for the biggest wave and commits to the aerial.
